Usually the best value entry plan: a large Spanish data bundle with unlimited domestic calls for around €10 a month, EU roaming included. Bring your passport - Spanish law requires ID registration for every SIM.

Around €15 a month for a very large data allowance on Vodafone's own network. Note that the EU roaming data cap is much lower than the Spanish allowance, which matters if Spain is one stop on a longer trip.

Slightly pricier than the rest, but the strongest coverage once you leave the city for the Costa Brava, Montserrat or inland Catalonia. Worth it if your trip goes beyond Barcelona.

A low-cost operator running on the Vodafone network, around €8 a month for a solid data bundle. Cheaper than the big brands but with far fewer walk-in shops and little English-language support.

The same prepaid bundle issued as an eSIM, so your home number stays live on the other line. Registration still requires a passport in person - some stores no longer accept foreign national ID cards.
