About FairFare

FairFare helps travelers check real, local-currency prices for attractions, food, souvenirs, taxis, and SIM cards before they pay — so you know what a fair price actually looks like.

Why we built this

One of the most common travel anxieties is not knowing whether a price is normal. Attraction tickets and taxi fares are often priced differently for locals and tourists, and food or souvenir prices can vary several times over between a street stall and a shop aimed at tourists. FairFare exists to close that information gap, giving you a rough baseline for what to expect before you hand over cash.

What you'll find here

For each country and city, we cover attraction admission fees, food prices split into three tiers (street, restaurant, fine dining), typical souvenir prices, SIM/eSIM plans, a taxi fare calculator built on the real local fare structure, and a rundown of common local scams and how to avoid them. We currently cover 20 countries and 66 cities, and we're adding more.

How we research prices

Each figure is cross-checked against official sources, recent traveler reports, and local media. Anything that changes often or relies on a single source is flagged internally as lower-confidence and re-checked periodically. Even so, every price here is a reference estimate — always confirm the actual price locally before you pay.

Why three price tiers

The same dish can cost very differently depending on whether you buy it from a street vendor, a regular restaurant, or a fine-dining spot — a single 'average price' would hide more than it reveals. Taxi fares work the same way: rather than one flat number, we model the real fare structure (base fare, distance rate, night surcharge) so the estimate reflects an actual ride.

Advertising and editorial independence

This site runs on Google AdSense to cover its costs, but advertising has no influence over which prices, rankings, or recommendations appear. Every country, city, and listing is researched to the same standard.

Keeping this up to date

We're continuously adding new cities and countries, and re-verifying existing data over time. If you spot something outdated or incorrect, let us know using the contact details below.
