Taxi Fare Estimator

Pick a departure and arrival subway station to estimate the fare and travel time.

Practical tips

GO is the app most locals and savvy visitors actually rely on — it dominates the market by a wide margin, has an English mode, and lets you pin a destination on the map so the language barrier rarely comes up, while Uber in Tokyo mostly just dispatches the same licensed taxis rather than private drivers. Street-hailing is still completely normal, and in busy central areas it's often faster than waiting for an app pickup since taxis cruise constantly — just don't try to open or close the rear door yourself, since it's automatic and the driver operates it from their seat. Haneda now has separate app-dispatch taxi stands alongside its regular rank, with GO's flat-rate airport fare covering many (though not all) parts of the city, while Narita's taxis run their own fixed fare straight from the rank with no reservation needed. Tipping is not expected anywhere in Japan — drivers will typically try to hand back any extra money rather than keep it.
