Transit card guide
Rome's ATAC network runs on the Metrebus system, where a single BIT ticket covers one metro ride or unlimited bus and tram transfers within a set time window, and these days you can just tap a contactless bank card or phone directly at the gates instead of buying a paper ticket first. That contactless tap-in also caps your total spending for the day automatically once you've taken enough rides, effectively turning into a day pass without you having to decide upfront — which makes buying a standalone 24-hour ticket pointless unless you already know you'll take several rides. The Roma Pass is a separate product aimed at sightseers, bundling transport with a museum or two, but for transport alone it isn't the cheapest option next to just tapping in with contactless.
