The world's most-visited museum, home to the Mona Lisa, the Venus de Milo, and 35,000 more works inside a former royal palace. Enter through I.M. Pei's glass pyramid, or skip the crowds via the Carrousel du Louvre underground entrance.

Paris's Gothic masterpiece, reopened in December 2024 after the 2019 fire and a five-year, billion-euro restoration. The stonework and stained glass have never looked cleaner; the twin bell towers reopened separately in September 2025.

Free entry to the cathedral; no tickets sold, but a free timed reservation at notredamedeparis.fr is strongly recommended in peak season to skip a 1–3 hour wait. Climbing the bell towers costs €16 and is booked separately.

Napoleon's 1836 triumphal arch honoring the French armies, straddling the roundabout where twelve avenues meet. The rooftop terrace, reached by 284 steps or a lift for part of the way, gives the best axis view down the Champs-Élysées.

A white travertine basilica crowning the Montmartre hilltop, completed in 1914 and visible from almost anywhere in Paris. The steps out front are the city's best free sunset viewpoint — arrive early to grab a seat before the crowds.

The basilica itself is free to enter. Climbing the dome (280 steps, no lift) costs €8 for adults, €5 for children up to 15, sold only on-site at a small kiosk beside the facade — no advance booking.

The world's largest collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art, housed in a converted 1900 Beaux-Arts train station. Monet, Van Gogh, Degas and Renoir fill the upper galleries beneath the giant station clock.

A jewel-box royal chapel built in 1248 to house Christ's Crown of Thorns, famous for 15 stained-glass windows soaring 15 meters and depicting over 1,100 biblical scenes. Go on a sunny midday for the glass at its most brilliant.

A former limestone quarry that became the city's official ossuary in 1786, its tunnels stacked with the bones of some six million Parisians. The public route covers about 1.5km, 20m below street level, ending in a steep climb back to daylight.
