Travel New Taipei without getting overcharged

New Taipei City wraps around Taipei as Taiwan's most populous city, and it holds many of the island's essential day-trip destinations: the red-lantern-lit alleys of Jiufen, the dramatic rock formations of Yehliu Geopark, and the sunset-lit riverside of Tamsui. Easily reached from downtown Taipei by public transportation, it's a favorite for day trips out of the capital.
