Transit card guide

Manila's elevated rail lines — LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3 — all run on the same tap-and-go Beep card, which you can buy with no ID or registration at any station ticket booth for around 100 pesos, covering a small card fee plus starting balance. There's no tourist day pass worth chasing here; you just tap in, tap out, and reload at the booth or nearby convenience stores when the balance runs low. The catch is that Beep only works on the trains and a handful of modern point-to-point buses — the jeepneys and ordinary city buses that fill in the gaps between stations are cash-only, so keep small bills on hand for those.
