Transit card guide

The one thing worth getting in Kuala Lumpur is a rechargeable Touch 'n Go card — it works across the LRT, MRT, Monorail, KTM Komuter trains, and most city buses, and it's sold and topped up at station machines and practically any 7-Eleven. It's worth knowing that a single card working everywhere doesn't mean seamless transfers: switching between lines run by different operators, like LRT3 to the Kelana Jaya line or the MRT-to-Monorail interchange at Bukit Bintang, usually means tapping out and back in as a fresh fare rather than a discounted connection. For a short trip, the KL TravelPass — which bundles the KLIA Ekspres airport train with a couple of days of unlimited city rides — can beat pay-per-ride if you're arriving through the airport and sightseeing hard, but otherwise plain pay-as-you-go with Touch 'n Go is usually simplest.
