The original and most famous of Vang Vieng's blue lagoons: a turquoise limestone pool fed by an underground spring, with a big tree tourists swing and dive from. Sits right at the foot of Tham Poukham cave.

One ticket typically covers both the lagoon and Tham Poukham cave above it. A separate ~10,000 LAK toll applies to cross the private bridge/road leading in, paid on top of the entrance fee.

Vang Vieng's most accessible cave, right across the river from town via a footbridge. A steep but short staircase leads to a large chamber with stalactites and a viewpoint over the surrounding rice paddies and karst peaks; also called the 'Elephant Cave' locally.

The cave sitting directly above Blue Lagoon 1, reached via a steep climb up wooden steps. Inside is a bronze reclining Buddha statue and a network of chambers explorable with a flashlight/headlamp — the reason this whole site is nicknamed the 'Blue Lagoon cave'.

No separate charge — covered by the Blue Lagoon 1 entrance ticket (~20,000 LAK), since it's physically the same site. Bring your own flashlight; only basic lighting exists inside.

A steep ~30-45 minute climb (bamboo handrails on the worst sections) up a karst outcrop just across the river from town, popular as a sunrise hike — a headlamp is essential if starting before dawn. The summit views over Vang Vieng's rice paddies and limestone peaks are considered among the best in town.

Paid in cash at a small ticket hut at the trailhead; some recent visitor reports cite up to 20,000 LAK.

Vang Vieng's signature activity: floating down the Nam Song river on an inflatable inner tube, with a tuk-tuk ride upstream to the put-in point. Once infamous for its riverside party bars, it's now a calmer, more regulated float since the post-2012 safety crackdown, though a handful of bars along the route remain.

Includes tube rental and tuk-tuk transport to the put-in point. A separate refundable deposit (commonly ~50,000-60,000 LAK) is charged and returned when the tube is brought back by the office's cutoff time (varies ~18:00-20:00).

One of the cheapest places in the world to ride a hot air balloon: a ~30-45 minute sunrise (or sunset) flight over Vang Vieng's karst peaks and rice paddies, launching from fields just outside town. Includes hotel pickup and usually a flight certificate.

Always quoted and paid in USD, not kip — roughly $80-145 depending on operator, with $100-130 most typical. The LAK figure here is an approximate conversion at the current exchange rate, not a fixed local price.

A quieter, less-visited waterfall roughly 12-15km south of town off Route 13, with a series of clear pools good for swimming and a drop reported at over 30m. Recently reopened with improved trail access after a period of construction.

Fee is collected informally at a roadside hut rather than an official ticket booth; reported amounts vary (10,000-50,000 LAK across different visitor reports), so treat this as approximate.

A working organic farm and café ~4-5km north of town on the Nam Song riverbank, known for mulberry shakes, mulberry tea, goat cheese and other farm produce. Much of its income supports local children's education; visitors can walk the grounds and see the mulberry trees.
