Booking tips before you go
Lyon City Card: worth it only for museum-heavy days
The 24h card costs €29.90 online and includes about 26 museums plus unlimited public transport. Three paid entries such as Confluences €12, Fine Arts €8 and Lumière €9.50 already come to €29.50, so it roughly breaks even on museums alone and pays off once you add the funicular and metro. Holders enter Confluences, Fine Arts, Lumière, Lugdunum and the Biennale free, but the Fine Arts museum still asks you to reserve a free slot.

Free sights and free-entry rules
The Fourvière basilica nave and crypt, the Halles Paul Bocuse market and Parc de la Tête d'Or cost nothing, and the outdoor Roman theatres are open daily. Lugdunum is free on the first Sunday of each month, but the Musée des Confluences has no first-Sunday rule; most museums here admit under-18s free, and the Fourvière rooftop tour (€14) must be booked online up to a month ahead.

Closed days and closures to plan around
The Musée des Beaux-Arts is closed on Tuesdays, the Confluences and Lugdunum museums on Mondays, and the Gadagne museums are open only Wednesday to Sunday. The Musée de l'Imprimerie has been closed for renovation since 1 June 2025 and is expected to reopen in spring 2027, so leave it off a 2026 itinerary; macLYON is only reachable this autumn through the Biennale pass.

Prices come from each attraction's official booking site where it could be read; otherwise they are cross-checked against independent 2026 sources, and each item's note says which. Re-check the official site for the current price before booking.
Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière (nave and crypt)

Entering the nave, chapels and Saint-Joseph crypt costs nothing; only guided visits such as the rooftop tour are ticketed. The official page does not state the free rule itself, so this rests on several consistent 2026 visitor guides.

Gadagne Museums (Lyon History and Puppetry)

Walking through the market is free; you only pay for what you eat and buy. Stall hours vary and Sundays are shorter (roughly 10:00-14:00), so go earlier in the day.

Parc de la Tête d'Or

The park is free to enter. Official 2026 hours are 6:30-22:30 from 15 April to 14 October and 6:30-20:30 from 15 October to 14 April; it can close in winds above 70 km/h.

Fourvière Basilica Rooftop Tour (Visite Insolite)

90-minute guided visit of the tribune, roof and terraces; adult €14, reduced or ages 5-17 €7. Book online up to one month ahead for a fixed time slot (tickets are non-refundable); no roof visits in December and January. The basilica nave and crypt themselves are free.

Lyon Contemporary Art Biennale Pass (includes macLYON)

Full price; reduced €18 for under-26s, free for under-15s, art students and Lyon City Card holders. The pass gives one entry each to four venues (Les Grandes Locos, Institut d'art contemporain, Musée des Tissus, macLYON) until 13 December, and it is how you visit macLYON this autumn.
